Orthodontics

State-of-the-art orthodontic care and treatment for all ages and malocclusions. Creating Beautiful Smiles.. Naturally.

What's my first visit to the orthodontist like?

This is a time for the orthodontist to listen to patient concerns and to provide an orthodontic examination. The orthodontist will likely be able to indicate whether or not treatment is needed, and if it is needed, when the best time to start treatment would be.

How many times do I need to visit my orthodontist when in treatment?

The usual appointment intervals range between 4-6 weeks, depending on the stage of treatment and the type of case being treated.

What's expected from me during orthodontic treatment?

Like other types of health care, patient cooperation with the directions of the orthodontist is key in determining the length of treatment and the quality of the outcome.

Patients cannot sit back and relax and let the braces do all the work for them. In many instances, patients’ cooperation is needed to help make sure the bite is right. Aligned teeth within each jaw won’t stay optimally aligned unless the teeth of each jaw fit properly together.

Patient compliance with elastic wear, functional appliance wear or headgear wear can be very important in insuring a successful outcome. In addition, you must continue to see your dentist at least every six months, or more often if recommended, for check-ups and professional cleanings.

How do I take care of my teeth and braces?

It’s more important than ever to maintain your teeth and gums perfectly clean and healthy till the end of your treatment, and hopefully, long after !

The key to healthy teeth and gums is proper Plaque removal every day. Plaque is the sticky, invisible film of bacteria constantly forming on your teeth. If left to build up, it will cause tooth decay (cavities), discoloration and gum disease !

General Care

Comprehensive dental checkups and cleanings to keep your smile healthy and prevent future issues.
How often should I visit the dentist for a check-up and cleaning?
For most patients, we recommend a routine check-up and cleaning every six months. Regular visits allow Dr. Wilson to monitor your oral health, catch any potential issues like cavities or gum disease early, and provide professional cleanings to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Depending on your individual oral health needs, we may recommend a different schedule.
Are dental X-rays necessary at every visit?
Not necessarily. Dental X-rays are an important diagnostic tool that helps us see what’s not visible during a regular exam, such as decay between teeth, issues with tooth roots, or bone loss. Dr. Wilson will recommend X-rays based on your individual needs, risk factors, dental history, and the type of appointment. We adhere to the principle of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) to minimize radiation exposure.
Are professional dental cleanings painful?
Most patients find professional dental cleanings to be a comfortable and refreshing experience. Our skilled hygienists are gentle and thorough. If you have sensitive teeth or gums, please let us know. We can discuss options to make your cleaning as comfortable as possible. The goal is to leave your teeth feeling smooth and exceptionally clean!
What should I do if I have a toothache?
If you’re experiencing a toothache, it’s important to contact Divi Dentist as soon as possible. Pain is a sign that something may be wrong. You can rinse your mouth with warm salt water and take over-the-counter pain relievers as directed, but avoid placing aspirin directly on the gums. We will do our best to see you promptly to diagnose the cause and provide appropriate treatment.

Cosmetic Care

Enhance the appearance of your smile with whitening, veneers, and other aesthetic treatments.
Is teeth whitening safe for my teeth?
Yes, professional teeth whitening supervised by a dentist is a safe and effective way to brighten your smile. At Divi Dentist, we use high-quality, approved whitening agents and techniques designed to minimize sensitivity and protect your enamel. Dr. Wilson will assess your oral health to ensure whitening is a suitable option for you.
What are dental veneers, and how long do they typically last?
Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells, often made of porcelain, that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. They can correct issues like chips, stains, gaps, or misshapen teeth. With proper care and regular dental check-ups, veneers can last for many years, often 10-15 years or even longer.
Can I fix gaps or crooked teeth without traditional braces?
Yes, there are often alternatives to traditional braces for correcting gaps or mildly crooked teeth. Options might include clear aligners (like Invisalign®), which are virtually invisible and removable, or cosmetic treatments like dental bonding or veneers for certain cases. Dr. Wilson can evaluate your smile and discuss the most suitable orthodontic or cosmetic solutions for your specific needs.
How do I know if cosmetic dentistry is right for me?
If you’re unhappy with any aspect of your smile, cosmetic dentistry might be a great option. The best way to find out is to schedule a consultation at Divi Dentist. Dr. Wilson will listen to your concerns, evaluate your oral health, and discuss your goals. We can then explain the available treatments and help you decide on a plan that aligns with your desires and budget.

Restorative Care

Restore function and comfort with crowns, bridges, implants, and advanced dental repairs.
What's the difference between a dental crown and a filling?
A filling is used to repair a small area of a tooth that has been damaged by decay. It “fills” the hole left after the decay is removed. A dental crown, on the other hand, is a cap that covers the entire visible portion of a tooth. Crowns are used when a tooth is more extensively damaged, weakened (e.g., after a root canal), or needs significant structural support or cosmetic improvement.
How long do dental implants usually last?
Dental implants are designed to be a long-lasting solution for missing teeth. With proper oral hygiene (brushing, flossing) and regular dental check-ups, dental implants can last a lifetime for many patients. The success and longevity depend on factors like overall health, jawbone quality, and continued care.
Do dental bridges look natural?
Yes, modern dental bridges are crafted to look very natural and blend seamlessly with your existing teeth. At Divi Dentist, we use high-quality materials and work closely with dental labs to ensure your bridge is matched in color, shape, and size to your natural teeth, restoring both function and aesthetics.
Is restorative dental treatment painful?
We understand that the thought of dental treatment can cause anxiety, which is why patient comfort is a top priority at Divi Dentist. For restorative procedures like crowns, bridges, or implants, we use effective local anesthesia to numb the area, ensuring you don’t feel pain during the treatment. We also offer options to help you relax if you’re anxious. Our team will explain everything and ensure you’re comfortable throughout the process.
